About the Studio

A refined hand, quietly western.

Catherine Maurakis Studio was created around a simple belief: original art should feel personal and approachable. Buying original work can feel intimidating, but choosing art often begins with something simple - how it makes you feel. Each piece is made with that connection in mind, through whimsy, softness, familiar western motifs, and small details that invite you in.

Drawing from a lifelong practice in art and design, her work reflects a refined approach to composition, balance, texture, and tone, resulting in pieces that feel both expressive and quietly restrained.

Through loose washes, thoughtful linework, and selected work in hide and leather, the studio explores western motifs in a way that feels elevated, collected, and deeply connected to thoughtfully designed spaces.

Studio work and process can be followed on Instagram and the studio Substack.

Made one at a time

Small-batch original watercolour, made one at a time.

The studio creates 1-of-1 watercolour works shaped by loose washes, thoughtful linework, and the natural beauty of watercolour's unpredictability. Each piece is original, never duplicated, and available online or through a handful of select retailers.

Each piece begins with the belief that art should make you feel something, delight, comfort, happiness, or a little more at home in the spaces you live in most. Inspired by the wild beauty of nature, the work embraces movement, softness, and the unexpected, where soft washes and natural blooms create delicate variations that make every original entirely its own.

Each palette is chosen with intention, drawn from the tones of western life: sun-washed neutrals, worn leather, soft florals, natural hide, aged wood, and open skies.

More Than Just Boots

Western life carries a deeper kind of beauty.

A sense of strength, grit, independence, heart, and pride.

It is beautiful and tough. Wild and grounded. Ferocious and tender.

Free, but deeply rooted in responsibility, love, and values.

Modern western studies, quietly composed.

The studio focuses on original watercolour works, small series, and select commissions for private clients and interior designers.
